CyanogenMod 12 (CM12) is based on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop and the Official CM 12 Nightlies are available for the OnePlus one android smartphone. The new Nightlies builds comes with lots of new features and improvement, with full hardware support for the essentials.
Android 4.4 and 4.4.1 have been released during these past several weeks, but until last year's smartphones will receive this update, it will take a while. The Samsung Galaxy S3 should be on the list of future-to-be-updated smartphones, but Samsung has other priorities at this point, such as launching the update on its newer flagship devices.Nevertheless, KitKat custom ROMs have been released recently for the SGS3, so if you happen to own this particular device, you can still enjoy the latest software features from Google.
This guide will teach you how you can apply official CM 11 'nightlies' on your Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300. This is an official CyanogenMod release, but being a 'nightly', you might expect certain bugs to be present. Basically, nightly builds are being launched on a daily basis, and each iteration improves the software (ROM) even further. As such, if you install this particular nightly today, tomorrow you might be able to apply an update that could potentially fix certain issues that you may have found in the OS.
IMPORTANT – READ BEFORE PROCEEDING

- During the installation process you will need to perform a factory reset. However, if you're already running on a CM 11 Nightly build, you can update without resetting
- This guide will include details on how you can create a NANDROID backup
