The Dark Side of the Moon (titled Dark Side of the Moon in the 1993 CD edition) is a concept album by the British progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It was released on March 17, 1973 in the U.S. And March 24, 1973 in the UK. The Dark Side of the Moon builds upon previous experimentation Pink Floyd had done, especially on their album Meddle.

  • But this is overhyped album, actually :) it is just good, decent one from competent band, nothing ground breaking.

  • How can a masterpiece that is universally admired stand against entropy, attack and amnesia? By being timeless and transcendent. This is both.

  • This album stayed in the Billboard Chats for 741 weeks and sold around 45 million copies. So it just goes to show that it is a true masterpiece. I was raised on music like this.
    I LOVE THIS ALBUM

This album is beautifully written and wonderfully executed.
If you don't like Floyd, don't bother. I hate hip hop, so I don't bother writing reviews for that genre.

  • 'On the Run' has Alan Parson written all over it.

  • This kind of ART is something that seems completely lost nowaday. You have to imagine this music created and performed without computers, but just using the most modern instruments available at the time. There is a docufilm where Alan Parson explains this pretty well. Anyway this is a must. Then, now and forever.

  • Over-hyped and indicative of the times, if you don't have any LSD, don't bother with Pink Floyd. 'The Wall' is even worse.

  • The stars were aligned just right when this album was recorded. The first of the 'Holy Trinity' of Floyd albums, TDSOTM is ranked as one of the greatest albums of all times. Just press play and feel the music. My father had this album in quadrophonic LP and it was my first experience with the band in 1973. I was hooked the first time I heard it at the tender age of 8 !
